Support the work of Sussex Central YMCA and Crawley Open House and get sponsored to sleep rough for the night in March 2012.
Sussex Central YMCA along with Crawley Open House are asking people to spend one night in March sleeping on the street to raise money for charity.
The aim of the fundraising event called Sleep Easy is to raise awareness of the realities of homelessness and also raise money to support the work of Crawley Open House, who run a hostel for 24 homeless men and women and the YMCA’s Crawley Foyer, which houses over 80 young people who would otherwise be homeless.
A resident and volunteer says of Sussex Central YMCA: "they helped me when I needed a roof over my head. When I wasn't very well and had no one to turn to they supported me. I don't like to think about what would have happened to me if Sussex Central YMCA wasn't there."
Sleep Easy is taking place on:
Thursday 1st March 7pm-7am
Queens Square, Crawley Town Centre, Crawley RH10 1HA
In previous years sleepers braved temperatures of -4 degrees, waking up to frost covered boxes and sleeping bags. Their efforts weren’t in vain and so far the event has raised over £7000 for the charities.
Cardboard boxes, hot drinks and warm food will be provided for all sleepers. Registration fee is £10 (£5 for U18s). Sign up to the event today and help continue the work of the charity by spending one night under the stars.
Registration fee is £10 (£5 for under 18s) and includes supper and breakfast. Click here to sign up.
