They'll also find themselves helping people within their local community, getting fitter, developing skills and going on an expedition.
Course Content
Students will work in a team to complete the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award which includes an expedition of two days hiking and one night camp overnight.
There are four elements to this award: Volunteering, Skill, Physical Activity and Expedition. All four elements need to be completed to achieve the full award.
Case Study
One of our learners who took part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award was very nervous about
Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Awardcamping overnight, but with the support of his group managed very well.
The group were trained in the skills needed for the expedition, which included map reading, tent pitching and cooking on a camping stove. This learner picked these skills up quickly, especially map reading.
He worked well in his group whilst hiking and showed good leadership skills. The group looked to him to read the map as he was the best at this.
All courses are flexible to accommodate the needs of schools and learners to suit timeframes and abilities.
Currently we run courses for schools over six weeks, twelve weeks, one academic year and two academic years.
