Sussex Central YMCA would like to congratulate all of the seven brave runners on completing this year’s gruelling Brighton Marathon to raise money for the charity. Claude Deaud, Elizabeth Harman, Jan English, Jason Anderton, Clare Ebelewicz, Jo Brewster and Chris Leggett overcame the herculean 26 mile course rising over £3900 for the work of Sussex Central YMCA. In order to complete this gargantuan task, the runners trained for months on end conditioning themselves for the big day. Their journey began with tough training through the cold winter, pulling on their trainers and braving the cold, wind and rain day after day. The culmination of this training came on a chilly Sunday morning when the runners set off from Preston Park. Chris Leggett was the first team ‘Y’ runner to cross the finish line and he did it in less than four hours.   

The money raised will directly improve the lives of young people in need, helping to support Sussex Central YMCA’s many valuable services across the district. Sussex Central YMCA would like to say a big thank you to all the runners, sponsors and volunteers for making this year’s Brighton Marathon another huge success.
